COVID-19 and other viruses can live on metal surfaces for upto 72 hours. This makes touchy things like door handles prime transmission points! It is well known that UV-C light can break the chemical DNA bonds in viruses, so why not embed some in door handles? A simple tilt switch will detect the handle has moved and illuminate UV-C LEDs for a set time.

Young children (my kids), take some time (no pun) to learn time and at what point in the day they are. I always demonstrate when an event will happen using the 'here is the start', 'here is the end' and 'this is where' we are method. They seem to understand this, so I thought I would design & make a day clock that shows key points in the day. It is a pretty cool way of telling the time for adults too!

The World has been calling for more respirators since the Corona Virus has taken it's toll. Many big companies & universities are designing devices, so I thought I would see what I could come up with in a few hours. Its simple, 3D printable with off the shelf components. It is just a basic ventilator, more suited for developing countries etc.

I got hold of some tiny arcade tins that contained sweets. They are really beautifully made, and after the sweets were eaten - I could not resist in turning one into a tiny desktop clock.

Now that mobile phones are so powerful they can run AAA games, I feel that sometimes you just need to step back to the origins of gaming. I designed a phone case that literally lets you play retro games, complete with retro styling and technology. It's a tongue in cheek concept - but will let you still get your 'game on', when your phone battery has run out from all that hardcore gaming!

It is true, I have a total weakness for arcade machines - & there will be many of them on here, maybe it is because I am a child of the 1980's. This is one of the reasons I created the arcadie product. Now that you can literally have computing power in something the size of a credit card, a mini arcade machine was achievable.

I have been fascinated by robots ever since I discovered electricity as a young primary school kid. It helped that we had BBC Micros and the Jessop turtle that trundled about drawing lines based on our code. Thanks to eBay I now have one, and some other nice retro contraptions (mostly built by blokes in their sheds). I made some too!

Remember how we used to get data into computers before the uber fast broadband speeds we have today? FSK or Frequency Shift Modulation - or those beeps and squelches made by your modem or tape loader, back in the day. This is the same way data is programmed into a RoBlock - cheap, and will work with any device with an audio output!
